'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Season 4 Episode 3 Review
Coming back after a week break (already?), the Watchdog group has begun shutting down power grids in cities all over the country, acting as though Inhumans are the ones responsible. The Sokovia Accords again come into play, as the Watchdogs have somehow gained intel on registered Inhumans, monitoring their movements to hunt them down.
Coulson, Fitz, and Mack are tasked with finding the source of the power outages, which turns out to be an EMP machine that's disrupting the power in Miami. Yo-Yo is also an integral charcter, as she helps to disarm the Watchdogs, enabling the rest of the team to take them down. Also featured is Simmons and Dr. Radcliffe, as they try to cure Agent May of her affliction after being touched by the spirit we saw last episode. May is on the verge of death, and Simmons and Radcliffe have to "reset" her brain by killing her and resuscitating her. They nearly lose her as the power in Radcliffe's lab goes out, but Radcliffe takes LMD Aida's power source and plugs shock paddles into it to bring her back.
The last storyline we saw was Daisy and Robbie's interactions, which also feature Robbie's brother, Gabe. Robbie and Daisy save Gabe from a group of men that are rioting during the blackout. Gabe later asks Daisy to leave, as he thinks she's a bad person and doesn't want her near Robbie. Gabe is unaware of Robbie's "powers".
Director Mace reveals to the world that S.H.I.E.L.D. is officially back in business, which is sure to divide the rest of the world further.
This episode wasn't the best, as the plots were just OK. It furthered the return of S.H.I.E.L.D. and showed more of the disdain of Inhumans that a lot of people have, as featured in a lot of Yo-Yo's scenes. I'm glad the May situation has been resolved, as she began to really annoy me. It got to the point where I just wanted her to die to get it over with. I just didn't totally get into this episode, as I found it kind of boring. The preview for next week's episode showed a quick glimpse of Robbie, appearing to be in a S.H.I.E.L.D. facility. I am curious to see how he is incorporated into the team (if he is at all).
My rating: 6 out of 10
