'Quarry' Season 1 Episodes 2 & 3 Review
As I got caught up on episodes 2 and 3 this weekend, I'm going to combine my reviews into one. Mack, after learning that his wife has been unfaithful, has completely lost it. He's shown going crazy in his house, scaring his wife away, and drinking heavily. Mack is so caught up in so many plots all at once that he's literally going crazy.
The police are investigating the murder of the man that Mack killed, adding to his troubles. He also is in debt to the man called The Broker, having to work jobs with Buddy, another hitman. Buddy is a ruthless killer, as we see him taking out a bunch of gun runners after a deal gone bad. That action scene was extremely graphic and violent, giving that 'Banshee' feel (oh, how I miss 'Banshee').
Joni is later kidnapped by the one-legged man from the first episode that killed Mack's friend. Joni is able to escape and call Mack, as he finds her and gets some help from The Broker to keep her safe. Despite her's and his own infidelities, Mack still deeply loves Joni, though his mental state and secret hitman lifestyle has her frightened of him.
This series has been really good so far. I'm really enveloped in the whole plot, the characters, and the great, intense dramatic scenes. Cinemax has been doing some amazing work the past few years with their original programming and this show is right at the top. I'm very curious to see where this season will take our characters, as we're already a third of the way through the 9-episode season.
