'Fear The Walking Dead' Season 2 Episode 9 Review

The newest episode of 'Fear The Walking Dead' continued Nick's story in the new settlement. As he is finding his place amongst the community, his badass nature really begins to shine through. Nick and Luciana are tasked with bartering for water and supplies with gangsters. After Nick is caught stealing, he turns the tide by threatening to cut off their supply of Oxycontin that the gang leader's sister needs, enabling them to come back with double the supply. It seems Nick's "drug smarts" have helped him to survive and thrive in this new world.

We also got to catch up up with the remainder of the main group, as they find their way into an abandoned hotel. Madison and Victor begin drinking heavily at the bar while Alicia and Ofelia begin checking rooms, finding some inhabited by infected. As Victor and Madison get drunk and noisy, they attract infected, which are falling off of the roof. They remain trapped in the hotel bar at the conclusion of the episode.

This episode gave a lot of insight as to the state of each character. Madison is beaten down by the losses of Nick, Travis and Chris. Victor is reminiscing about Thomas, while Ofelia and Alicia encounter an infected man who had previously hung himself in the bathroom. At the colony Nick is at, the citizens seem to be almost sacrificing people to the "wall" of infected, with the pharmacist leading a cult-like speech. They seem to be sending their dying members to feed the dead.

I liked how we got to catch up with more cast members and see how they're all handling the new situations they're being put in. It will be interesting to see Travis and Chris next episode and where they currently are. I really am loving Nick's character, he is perfectly made for adapting to this world. Strong character building episode.

My rating: 7 out of 10
