'Preacher' S01E02 Review

'Preacher' returned from its brief hiatus last night, and to be perfectly honest, I'm not digging the show. I want to like it. I have some of the comics (but have yet to read them).

I'm just not sure what the actual plot of the story is, it seems to be a collection of different scenes that don't really fit well together. My fiance has read a few of the comics and has a better sense of what's going on, but says that the show isn't quite staying on par with the comics, leading to the confusion.

I don't feel like I can accurately review this episode, as I was wholly lost. We keep getting different scenes with Jessie, Cassidy and Tulip, but for me they aren't adding up to anything.

Cassidy revealed that he is a 100+ year old vampire and has hunters after him, which we saw in the episode as they attacked Jessie, thinking he was the target. The fight scene in the church was pretty cool, but that was really the only scene that stuck out to me. Tulip is trying to get Jessie to go out on a mission with him, but we aren't given any details as to what it actually is. Jessie, now with powers as he was "possessed" by that spirit in the first episode, does some pretty cool things, waking up the girl in a coma.

I really hope the next episode clears up what the actual story is about. Before the next episode airs I will be sure to read the comics that I do have, which will hopefully give me a clearer ide of what's happening.

My rating: 5 out of 10
