Rewind: 'Month Python and the Holy Grail'

This week's 'Rewind' features the 1975 cult classic 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail'. Featuring actors from the Python comedy group (Eric Idle, Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Terry Jones, Michael Palin), the movie is a comedic spoof of the classic King Arthur stories, focusing on his quest to find the Holy Grail, the cup Jesus drank from during the Last Supper.

Arthur (Graham Chapman) is tasked in finding the Grail by God himself, and sets out to add knights to his cause. Knights like Sir Lancelot (John Cleese), Sir Robin (Eric Idle), Sir Bors (Terry Gilliam), Sir Bedevere (Terry Jones) and Sir Galahad (Michael Palin) join Arthur in his quest, each splitting off from the main group to search for the Grail.

Each of the main cast members also play many different characters throughout the movie, as they were wont to do in the Python skits and other Python films. The outrageous comedy and musical acts during this film always leave me with sore sides from laughter.

The movie is highly quotable, with scenes featuring the likes of the French Taunter, The Black Knight, Tim the Enchanter and the Knights-Who-Say-Ni.

The genius of this movie is in its dialogue. The silly lines and preposterous action bits like the discussion of swallows carrying coconuts, the building of shrubberies and the fearsome 'Killer Rabbit' are things that will stand out for generations to come.

If you haven't seen this film, it is surely a MUST WATCH. Let me know what YOUR favorite scenes/quotes/characters are!
