Story #1: 'The Flash' Director Exits Film
Director Seth Grahame-Smith left the upcoming DC film in 'The Flash', citing "creative differences". The script, written by Grahame-Smith and treated by the team of Chris Lord and Phil Miller, will be retained as the search for a new director begins.
Story #2: 20th Century Fox Pulls out of San Diego Comic-Con
Fox has announced their pulling out of this year's San Diego Comic-Con, saying that the threat of piracy from presentations are too great and detrimental to their upcoming movie projects. With Marvel absent last year, exclusively showcasing their projects at the D23 expo and now Fox, much is left to be determined on the future or major movie studios participating in events like SDCC.
Story #3: 'Shinobi' Movie in the Works
Based on the SEGA video game, a 'Shinobi' movie is being developed by Marc Platt (Bridge of SPies, Drive, Wanted) in association with SEGA. The original 'Shinobi' game features the player controlling a modern-day ninja named Joe Musashi who goes on a mission to rescue his kidnapped students from a group of terrorists.
Story #4: 'Captain America: Civil War' Brings Home the Bacon Internationally
Though the American release of 'Civil War' isn't until next week, the film has opened up in some international markets. With estimations around $200 million, and the domestic tracking at an estimated $200 for opening weekend, 'Civil War' is set to be a contender for the highest grossing film of all-time.
Story #5: Jeremy Irons Back for 'Justice League'
Actor Jeremy Irons portrayed butler Alfred Pennyworth in 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' and is set to reprise his role in next year's 'Justice League: Part One'.
Story #6: Weekend Box Office
'The Jungle Book' continued its dominance at the box office, bringing in an estimated $42.4 million in its third week. This will assuredly be the last week at the top, as 'Captain America: Civil War' is set for release this coming week.
