'The Flash' S02E19 Review

Tonight's episode of 'The Flash' built on Barry's speed loss, showing him having to go through his daily routine as a normal person; traveling by bus to work, working, etc. Last week, Zoom also kidnapped Caitlin, and it's revealed that he still "loves" her.

Wells, angered by the whole thing, since he was against re-opening the breeches in the first place, goes off to find his daughter, Jessie. On the way, he is attacked by a metahuman with super-strength. Thinking Wells is the Earth-1 Wells, he blames him for the particle accelerator accident that changed him. The accident not only gave him super-strength, but is aging him rapidly. He wants Wells to find a cure for him.

The team is now tracking Wells and has to defeat him without the use of Barry's powers. While tracking them to Ace Chemicals (is it the same Ace Chemicals that turned Red Hood into The Joker?) Barry is injured.

Cisco creates a small shielding in Barry's suit, the same material in The Atom's suit, but only was able to protect the chest area.

As Caitlin is being held captive, she meets her doppelganger, Killer Frost, where she agrees to free her from her cell. Killer Frost then tries to kill Caitlin, but Zoom saves her and kills Killer Frost, warning her not to help the man in the iron mask or he will kill him too.

Wally, after being saved by The Flash last week, asks Joe to set up a meeting so that he can thank Flash. After initial reluctance, and the defeat of Griffin Grey, the metahuman threat this episode, Joe sets up the meeting.

Wells and Jessie patch their relationship and all seems well. But with Zoom now being able to return to Earth-1 at will and Barry powerless, his threat is again ever-present. Wells now plans to recreate his particle accelerator in attempt to give Barry his speed back,

The episode wasn't the strongest for me. It was a bit of a filler episode; we didn't get too much Zoom and only got a small seed planted for the rest of the season. It will be interesting to see if Barry does regain his speed back from this experiment, or if it will happen a different way. I'm also wondering how/when/if Wally will also get speed powers, as he is Kid Flash in the comics. Ok episode, but not the greatest. Cisco is money as usual with his humor. Iris is pretty useless as a part of the Star Labs Team, in my opinion.

My rating: 7 out of 10
