'Bates Motel' S04E07 Review

Last night's episode, "There's No Place Like Home", saw Norman's desperate attempt to be released from Pineview. After coming across newspaper scraps during an art project, Norman finds the article of Norma's and Alex's wedding announcement. This throws Norman into a quiet rage and prompts his need for release.

During a conversation with Julian, Norman tells him that he can make people believe he is "normal" to avoid suspicion. Norma and pretty much everyone else are against the idea of Norman's release, but Norman has a conversation with his doctor that talks about Norman being medicated according to the doctor's orders that could complicate legal matters, should the doctor try to stop his release. Remember, Norman voluntarily admitted himself and has the right to leave on his own free will, as long as he's not seen as a danger to himself or other.

Dylan, after discovering the letter to Emma from her mom in Norman's bedroom last week, brings up the issue to Norma and tells her she shouldn't let him come home.

Alex gives Norma the money he's been hiding in the basement for home renovations and remodeling purposes. Alex and Norma's "honeymoon phase" is coming to an end, as Norma agrees to allow Norman to come home.

Norman is becoming more of a sociopath, which is even more evident during this episode. He is calculating and smart and knows exactly what he is doing. His return home next week should be an exciting episode.
