First Look at Elizabeth Banks As Rita Repulsa
Fans of the 90s 'Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers' franchise were surprised to hear the announcement of a film reboot recently. With a main cast of unknowns portraying the titular heroes, Elizabeth Banks was cast as the film's villain in Rita Repulsa. A new image of the character was released today from Entertainment Weekly. The new portrayal is vastly different from the classic one. This will be the first true villain role Banks has played, and when asked about it had this to say:
“It’s definitely a modern and edgy re-imagining of the original Rita Repulsa,” explains Banks “We wanted to give her a backstory that connects her to the new Rangers. I’ve never played a villain before, let alone an alien warrior.”
'Power Rangers' is slated for a March 24th, 2017 release.
