Lots of MCU News

There has been a bevy of news stories coming out regrading the Marvel Cinematic Universe over the past few days. Here s a quick recap of them all.

Story #1: 'Iron Fist' casting

The upcoming 'Iron Fist' Netflix series has cast its villain in Australian actor David Wenham. Wenham (Lord of the Rings, 300) will play 'Harold Meachem', a corporate leader that may have had something to do with the deaths of our hero's parents.

Story #2: 'Inhumans' likely to be delayed AGAIN

Probably the most unknown property in the MCU lineup is 2018's 'Inhumans', Marvel's answer to X-Men and mutants (since they are over at Fox). Currently, Inhumans are the main plot point in ABC's 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' but were supposed to have their own movie in 2018. Recently, Kevin Feige confirmed that the movie would be moving off of its release date in an interview with Collider, saying:

"Since we made our initial phase three announcement, we added Spider-Man, which was a big joyous coup for us. We added Ant-Man and the Wasp, which was a big fun continuation of that story for us. Walt Disney Company has announced an Indiana Jones film for right around that same time. So I think it will shuffle off the current date that it’s on right now. How far down it shuffles, I’m not sure yet." So, it sounds like that's a no for Inhumans in 2019, but when the site asked Feige if it's a matter of "they’re doing that on TV, we’re not doing it", he replied: "No, It’s a question of when."

Story #3: Thor and Star-Lord hinted at as part of 'Infinity War'

"The movies are intended to be a culmination of everything that's happened before in the MCU so you don't want to get into spoilers but I'm a big fan of what James Gunn has done," Anthony Russo told Comicbook.com. "[Joe Russo and I] are both big fans of what James Gunn has done. Star-Lord is a fantastic character and Chris Pratt is an awesome performer so you'd be very excited," he said, teasing Pratt and Star-Lord's presence in Infinity War.

"I'm excited to work with Thor," Joe Russo says. "They're doing some really interesting stuff with Ragnarok and where he's gonna be at the beginning of Infinity War is gonna be a very interesting place and I think very profound. I think he's gonna have a real emotional motivation after that."

Story #4: 'Black Panther' finds co-writer in current director

With 'Black Panther' ready to make his debut in a few weeks in 'Civil War', his solo film has just found a "new" co-writer in current director Ryan Coogler. In an interview with Collider, Kevin Feige said: "We have a number of writers on it including Ryan Coogler, who is also directing, he’s working on the draft right now. Between now and the end of the summer there will be more casting announcements. We start filming at the very beginning of next year.”

Story #5: 'Defenders' to start filming this year

Actor Charlie Cox (Daredevil) stated in an interview that the Netflix-version of the Avengers, The Defenders, will shoot later this year. According to The Independent, Cox said:

“What we do know is at the end of this year we’re going to be making The Defenders and, of course, Daredevil is very much a part of that foursome. I have no idea what the storyline is going to be for that show. I’m very excited to see how those world’s combine…and interested to see tonally how those shows become one.”

'The Defenders' will see Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist team up a la The Avengers.

Story #6: New clip featuring 'Ant-Man' from 'Civil War'

Check out this clip featuring Paul Rudd's 'Ant-Man' meeting 'Captain America' from last night's episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live.
