'Forrest Gump' Rewind Review

To start of my new "Rewind" section, I'll review my favorite movie of ALL-TIME in 1994's 'Forrest Gump'

This is a film that I have seen DOZENS of times. My cousins and I used to watch this movie all the time on weekends and I often fell asleep to it. This movie has everything: action, drama, suspense, romance, pop culture references, a wonderful story, fantastic acting, and a great soundtrack.

'Forrest Gump' chronicles the life events of the titular character played by the great Tom Hanks. Forrest's journey from childhood to ultimately finding out about his paternity spans from the 60s through modern day.

While taking part in events like the Vietnam War, playing college football, becoming a shrimp boat captain, professional ping pong player and quasi-celebrity, Forrest's heart-breaking/warming story is one of triumph.

With an incredible cast led by Hanks and including Gary Sinese, Sally Field, Robin Wright, the film went on to win big at the Oscar's that year, winning Best Picture (over The Shawshank Redemption), Best Leading Actor (Hanks), Best Director (Robert Zemeckis), Best Adapted Screenplay (Eric Roth), Best Film Editing (Arthur Schmidt) and Best Visual Effects while being nominated in 7 other categories.

The character interactions are phenomenal. This is a movie that will make me cry multiple times throughout and is a source of inspiration in the sense that a common man can go on to do great things. As per Forrest's famous quote "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get".

If you somehow have never seen this movie, it is a MUST WATCH.
