Arrow S04E17 "Beacon of Hope" Review
Last night's episode of 'Arrow' was up and down for me. I have been a big fan of most parts of this show, but there are some things that bother me. While Oliver and Felicity were a great match earlier in the series, their relationship became stagnant and eventually ended. I'm very happy it happened, because I don't care about love interests in super hero shows and films. It takes away from the overall story and adds unnecessary dram. I don't care about Clark and Lois, I don't care about Peter & MJ, and I don't care about Oliver & Felicity.
I like the addition of Curtis onto Team Arrow, as Felicity takes a back seat. I'm over their drama. But let's talk about something else bothersome: the villain of the episode "Bug-Eyed Bandit". We first saw her on an episode of 'The Flash'. You may recognize the actor playing the role of Brie from 'The Walking Dead' as "Beth". I'm sorry, but her acting and dialogue on both 'The Flash' and 'Arrow' have been terrible. The constant bee puns and corny jokes were irksome. It treaded on the Batman & Robin line.
The Malcolm Merlyn/Damian Darkh relationship is becoming more interesting. It seems that Merlyn has now taken over for Darkh as the "leader" of Hive and will try and stick it to Oliver and the rest of Team Arrow. The reveal of Diggle's brother at the end of the episode to also be another antagonist was interesting as well.
My rating: 5 out of 10.
